Alan Lee Shields, 68, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 30, 2021. He was born and raised in Northeast Iowa and graduated from Denver Community High School. There he met and later married his high school sweetheart, JanAnn Rose Shields. He served in the United States Navy and was Petty Officer First Class and a Vietnam Veteran. Alan received a ministerial degree and working in the ministry was his life and passion. Alan enjoyed working with his hands and carpentry as well as taking fishing trips with his family. He was the son of the late Donald Dean and Beverly Jean Pritchard Shields. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Jan Rose Shields; a daughter, Jill Marie Shields Ottaway and husband, Bill of Flowery Branch, Georgia; two sons, Alan Lee Shields Jr. and Benjamin Lee Shields, both of Cleveland, Georgia; a sister, Bonnie Wolter and husband, Greg; two brothers, Brett Shields and wife, Laurel and Brian Shields and wife, Debra; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Trenton, Dylan, and Alexander Shields, Benjamin Jr., Tristan, and Liam Shields, and Bailey and Abbey Ottaway; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland, Georgia.
