Annie Charles Champa, age 91, passed away peacefully on the evening of May 11, 2023, in Cleveland, Georgia. Annie was born in Andalusia, Alabama, on February 16, 1932, to the late Andrew and Fannie Mae Williford Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard (Bernie) Champa; brothers, Argyle Moore, Edward Moore, and Paul Johnson Moore; sister, Patricia Mae Hulsey. Annie lived most of her life in, or near, Cleveland, Ohio. She received her Master of Education from Kent State University in 1971. She served as a teacher, then principal in the Ohio Metropolitan School District. Annie authored a historical fiction novel, released in 2002, regarding a journey in young American’s expansion, titled “Three Notches of Destiny.” Survivors include her younger sister, Bettie Magnusen of Liverpool, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own children. Mrs. Champa will be interred with her husband, Bernie, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
