Barbara Cannon Matthews, age 83, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Barbara was the youngest child of Oscar and Fairy Cannon. She grew up in Lumpkin County where she graduated from Lumpkin County High School and attended North Georgia College.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband of 22 years, John Matthews of Bethesda, Maryland.
She is survived by John’s five children and their families, her sister Jean Cannon McCall and brother Pat Cannon and by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
A brief graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery on Sunday, March 15th, 2026, at 3:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery Fund: P.O. Box 3438, Cleveland, GA 30528.
