Barbara J. Smith

Barbara Joyce McGill Smith passed away at age 77 surrounded by friends and family members, August 7th 2009. Barbara was the only child of Bonnie and Howell McGill of Atlanta, Ga. She attended Bass High School, attended business college and was employed in the medical field. She married Robert W. “Red” Smith in March of 1952. Barbara was active in church youth work, NYF and enjoyed singing in the church choirs at Druid Hills United Methodist Church and St. John’s United Methodist Church. She was active in home bible studies as well as Cub and Boy Scotts. Barbara played an active role with her children participating in Band Boosters and team sport fundraisers. She will be remembered for her faith, love of family and hospitality. She is survived by her four children: Edith LaFaye Smith Brittain, Robert Wesley Smith, Ralph Weldon Smith and Bonnie Laura Smith. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Family and friends of Barbara are welcomed beginning at 1:00 PM with services following 3:00 PM at Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland, Ga and burial located at Mossy Creek United Methodist Church in Cleveland, Ga.
