Betty Lou Andrew (August 18, 1927 – July 13, 2014) departed Cleveland, Georgia with a body refreshed, pain free and her beauty restored. She was picked up on the road to heaven by her husband and true love Joe C. Andrew and listening to the music of Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin while driving through Heaven’s gate, where they were met by family and friends for a great family reunion.
Betty Andrew was born Betty Lou Stuckey on August 18, 1927 in Miami, Oklahoma the only child of Irwin & Carrie Stuckey. She was a 1945 graduate of Miami High School and worked for the Bell Telephone Company as a Telephone Operator. She met her husband, CWO-4 (Ret) Joe C. Andrew in Miami when he was on leave from the U.S. Armys 82nd Airborne Division, 508th PIR in 1946. They were married in January 1947, thus began a 30 year adventure with the U.S. Army living in Italy & Germany, where she worked as the base Secretary for the Base Commanders. They also lived at various U.S. bases from California to North Carolina and Texas. After retiring from Military service they settled back in Miami, Oklahoma for a few years to raise their three children, Rodney, Ricky & Deborah. They owned the Skelly Service Station in Miami,OK where they also had a vehicle towing business.
After their children were grown, Joe & Betty pulled up stakes once again and relocated to the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, where they lived for 22 years. They moved to Cleveland, GA in 2006 to be near their eldest son, Rodney. Joe & Betty were married for 62 years before Joe made his final jump in August 2008.
Betty was preceded in death by her Grandparents E.P. & Carrie B. Swearingen, Mother, Carrie L. Rogers (all of Miami, OK), her father, Irwin Stuckey of Las Vegas, Nevada, her Step-sister, Lucretia Roberts McDonnell of Fresno, California and her husband, Joe C. Andrew of Cleveland, GA by way of Mission, Texas.
Survivors include her son Rodney Andrew and wife, RJ of Cleveland, Georgia, Daughter, Deborah ( Dee Dee ) Massey & husband, Richard of Oklahoma City, OK, and Son, Ricky Andrew and wife, Carol of Monroe, Washington. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2014 at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Marc Turner will officiate.
Both Betty & Joe will be interred together at the Veterans Cemetery in Texas.
