Mr. Charles D. Black Sr. age 82 of Cleveland passed away Wednesday September 3, 2008 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Black was born in Fulton County the son of the late Carl and Rosamond Ash Black. He was preceded in death by sons, Chris Black and Monte Black. Mr. Black was founder of Charles Black Construction Company, member of Association of General Contractors, American Legion, Elks Club and Chattahoochee Country Club. He was a past board member of Regions Bank, member of Cleveland First Baptist Church and a Veteran of World War 11 serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy J. Black, Cleveland; daughter, Lynda Lunsford, Cleveland; son and daughter in law, Bud and Margie Black, Cleveland; daughter in law, Sharon Black, Helen; sister, Shirley McDonald, Cleveland; brothers and sisters in law, Richard and Louise Black, Lamar (Pinkey) and Betty Black, Bill and Conchita Black, all of Cleveland; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and may wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday September 5, 2008 at Cleveland First Baptist Church. The Rev. Aubrey McIntyre, Dr. Robert Massey, Rev. Bobby Taylor and Rev. Dennis Turner will officiate. Burial will follow in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
