Coach Dan Lanford Kennerly, age 85 of Sautee passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Coach Kennerly was born September 21, 1922 in Gwinnett County to the late Ralph and
Vera Lanford Kennerly. He was a coach and educator for O’Keefe High School in Atlanta. Later he was the Coordinator for Athletics for the City of Atlanta High School System. Coach Kennerly began his college education at the University of Georgia where he played in the 1943 Rose Bowl. He had to leave the University of Georgia to serve in WWII as a member of the 10th Mountain Division Ski Troops in the U.S. Army. After the war he graduated Erskine College and there received his Masters Degree from the University of Georgia.

Kennerly, Sautee; son & daughter in law: Chris & Jerri Kennerly, Stockbridge; son: Kyle Kennerly, Villa Rica: daughter: Kerry Cantwell, Middleton, WI; granddaughters: Elizabeth Cantwell, Middleton, WI, Kaelyn Kennerly, McDonough, Catherine Kennerly, Stockbridge, Mackenzie Kennerly, Athens; grandson; Christian Kennerly, Stockbridge; great grandson: Tristan Kennerly, McDonough.
At his request a private memorial services will be held at a later date.
