Deborah Rose Bergen

November 23, 1957 — August 9, 2025

In Loving Memory of Deborah Rose Bergen (1957–2025) With profound sorrow and deep appreciation for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Deborah Rose Bergen, who left this world on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on November 23, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, Deborah’s journey was one of creativity, conviction, and unwavering love for her family, her faith, and the beauty that surrounded her. A Life Rooted in Family, Faith, and Flowers At the age of 12, Deborah moved with her family to Buffalo Grove, Illinois, where she blossomed into a spirited and passionate young woman. She attended Wheeling High School, forming lifelong friendships and discovering her love for design, animals, and self-expression. Deborah was the cherished daughter of Anton & Arlene Walczak, and grew up alongside her siblings—Bill Walzak, Karin Wagner, and Cathy Roiland—in a lively household filled with laughter, strong opinions, and deep familial bonds. From a young age, Deborah was known for her bold spirit and passionate voice. She spoke up when it mattered, stood firm in her beliefs, and never hesitated to defend those she loved. At 21 years old, Deborah made a life-changing move to Georgia, where she raised her beloved son Troy and built a life full of sunshine, creativity, and community. Georgia wasn’t just a new home—it became the canvas for her dreams. For over 20 years, Deborah worked in the grocery industry, specializing in the floral department, where her natural eye for beauty and design flourished. She had a gift for arranging blooms in ways that brought joy to others, and her work was a reflection of her vibrant personality—colorful, expressive, and full of life. A Creative Soul and Devoted Partner Deborah shared her life with her loving husband, John David Bergen, with whom she built not just a home, but a legacy. Together, they designed and constructed houses throughout the duration of their marriage, blending craftsmanship with creativity. Deborah had an extraordinary eye for interior decorating, transforming spaces into warm, welcoming sanctuaries that reflected her love of color, texture, and personal expression. Her home was always alive—with dogs, cats, and even exotic birds filling the rooms with sound, movement, and companionship. Deborah had a deep passion for animals, and her nurturing spirit extended to every creature she welcomed into her life. She and John David were also passionate about the outdoors, seizing every opportunity to bask in the Georgia sun, spend time on the water, and enjoy boating, sports, and the company of their beloved pets. Deborah especially loved eating outside, savoring meals in the fresh air, and spending evenings playing board games with family and friends—laughing, competing, and making memories. A Mother’s Heart and Unshakable Faith Deborah’s life was forever changed by the heartbreaking loss of her son, Troy, who passed away a few years ago. His absence left a deep ache in her heart, and she struggled to rationalize the loss of someone so precious. Yet through her grief, Deborah leaned into her faith, seeking comfort in prayer and the belief that love transcends even death. Her loyalty to family and friends remained fierce—once you were in Deborah’s heart, you were there forever. She was loud in the best way: full of laughter, opinion, and unfiltered love. A devoted sports fan, Deborah cheered passionately for the Atlanta Falcons, embracing her Georgia pride with gusto. But when the Falcons weren’t playing, her Chicago roots came roaring back as she rooted for the Chicago Bears, a nod to the city that shaped her early years. 🌺 A Legacy That Blooms Forever Deborah is survived by her husband, John David Bergen; her father, Anton Walczak; her siblings, Bill Walzak, Karin Wagner, and Cathy Roiland; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews who adored her and will carry her spirit forward. Her life was a mosaic of love, creativity, and conviction. She lived with purpose, decorated with passion, and loved with her whole heart. Deborah Rose Bergen was a force of nature—bold, beautiful, and unforgettable. Deborah was also a proud member of a Mastiff rescue organization. Her love for large breeds was unwavering, and she worked tirelessly to find new homes for forgotten pets. Her compassion extended far beyond her own household, touching the lives of countless animals and the people who adopted them. 🕊️ Final Farewell A memorial service will be held in Georgia, the place Deborah called home and where her spirit will forever linger in the sunlit waters and blooming gardens she cherished. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable woman who made every moment a masterpiece. A celebration of life will take place at 175 Land’s End Trail Cleveland, Georgia, on September 6th at noon. In honor of Deborah’s lifelong love for animals, donations may be made to the Humane Society, a charity she supported generously and often. Deborah, your voice, your vision, and your love will never fade. You were the heartbeat of your family, the soul of your home, and the bloom in every bouquet. Rest peacefully, radiant spirit—you truly made the world more beautiful.
