Dellmes Eugene (Gene) Mccay

Dellmes Eugene (Gene) McCay, age 75 of Sautee Nacoochee, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015. Gene was born on April 4, 1940, in White County, to the late Oscar McCay and Marell York Hicks. He was retired from Synthetic Industries and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving at Homestead Air force Base, Missal Battalion, during the Cuban Crisis. After his tour of duty he attended North Georgia Technical College for five years. Survivors are his loving wife of 58 years, Frances Stovall McCay, Sautee Nacoochee; Son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Wanda McCay, Sautee Nacoochee; Daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Cosby Chastain, Clayton; Grandchildren, Dustin and Megan Brown, Sautee Nacoochee, Casey and Michael Tanksley, Cornelia, Kwentin Chastain, Clayton, Maressa McCay, Sautee Nacoochee; Great grandson, Dawson Brown, Sautee Nacoochee; Step granddaughter, Sydney Haynes, Cornelia; Brother, Boyd McCay, Flowery Branch; Sister, Lorene (Ralph) Roberts, Flowery Branch, Myrtle (Don) Cammack, Stone Mountain, Carolyn Shirley, Cornelia; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also remain. Gene’s wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Barrett Funeral Home from 2:00pm-4:00pm. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 4:00pm at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Gene was an avid dog lover.
