Dick "Randy" Fowler

July 28, 1958 — March 7, 2025

Randy Fowler, age 66, of Cleveland, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025. Randy was born on July 28th, 1958, in Jacksonville, Florida to Laura Fowler and her late husband Ed Fowler. Randy moved several times across Florida and Georgia growing up, participating in Boy Scouts where he earned his Eagle Scout. The family finally landed in Satellite Beach Florida, where Randy built beach buggies, tagged sea turtles, worked for the Satellite Beach Fire Department and met the love of his life, Melinda “Mindy” Fowler. Randy attended Clemson University for two years, finishing his education at the University of Florida for the last two years with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, or as he liked to call it “studying dirt”. Randy and Mindy were married August 7th, 1982. Randy took a job with the Soil and Water Conservation Service and later came to work for the Forest Service where he worked on several esteemed projects, including the Chattooga Watershed Project, eventually ending up at the Coweta Hydrologic Laboratory. Randy and Mindy had two boys, and Mindy was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. Randy and Mindy both showed amazing strength and perseverance, homeschooling both of their children and overcoming all obstacles placed in front of them together. Randy Fowler loved the Lord, passionately loved his wife, his children, and the outdoors. His life was one of absolute fulfillment of purpose and an immaculate example of what it means to have a servants’ heart. He is survived by his mom, Laura Fowler, his brother, Coke Fowler, his son and daughter-in-law, Zak and Katie Fowler, his son and daughter-in-law, Taylor and Brooke Fowler, and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family. Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants. Randy was loved by all. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 on Saturday April 5, 2025, at Christ Presbyterian Church, 801 Roper Drive, Clarkesville GA 30523. It will be a time of fellowship, to visit with the family and share memories. There will also be a Forest Service honorary flag presentation. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Randy and Mindy’s memory – P.O. Box 97075, Washington, DC 20090-7075.
