Don McCollum, age 67 of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, September 16th, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Don was born on March 1st, 1956 to the late George and Thelma McCollum. Always working in construction, he had recently retired. Known as “Papa Don” to most, he loved his family, especially his 8 grandchildren and would go above and beyond for them. He loved to be outdoors, especially deer hunting and working in a garden. In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, George and Betty Lynn McCollum Jr. and sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Donald Bentley, brother-in-law, Jim Hester; and father-in-law, Fred Ward. Survivors include his wife, Wanda McCollum; son, Adam McCollum, son and daughter-in-law, Dusty and Sarah McCollum; added son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Heather Hester; 8 grandchildren, Kelan, Kendall, Kinley, Jaycee, and Bryce McCollum and Riley, Jackson, and Wesley Hester; sister, Jane Hester; mother-in-law, Nellie Ward; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Renee Ward; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kent and Stacy Ward. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Honorable Judge Garrison Baker and Rev. Brandon Ward will officiate. Interment will follow at Blue Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12-2 P.M. Wednesday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
