Doris McCoy Wilbanks

Barrett Funeral Home announces the passing of Doris McCoy Wilbanks of Gainesville on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Doris was born September 7, 1944, to the late John and Lorene McCoy. She was preceded in death by brothers, Cecil and Carlton McCoy and sister, Barbara Loggins.

Mrs. Wilbanks was employed with Sears for 23 years and was an avid crafter. She enjoyed making graveside floral arrangements for friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Tony; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Christen Wilbanks of Gainesville, GA and Todd and Cynthia Wilbanks of Sylvester, GA; grandsons, John Wilbanks and Matthew Wilbanks (Kendall); step grandson and granddaughter, Darin and Wyntter Willoughby; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Clinton Pitts; and brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Jane McCoy.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Thursday, June 11, 2026, from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Gateway Memory Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Thursday, prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, it was Doris’ wish that any memorial donations be made in her memory to Winship Cancer Institute of Emory Hospital, 1365 Clifton Road Atlanta, GA 30322.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Andre Kallab and staff and Dr. Sean Sumner for providing Doris with outstanding care for many years.
