Mrs. Dorothy Cook Black age 84 of Cleveland passed away Sunday at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Black was born and raised in Cleveland, daughter of the late Oscar and Sadie Brookshire Cook. She worked at Talon Zipper Manufacturing plant for 20 plus years and was a dedicated homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Black Sr., Sons Chris and Monte Black and daughter Lynda Black Lunsford, brother Oscar Cook, Jr. brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Louise Black. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Bud and Margie Black, Cleveland; daughter-in-law Sharon Black, Helen; sister-in-law Shirley McDonald, Cleveland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lamar (Pinky) and Betty Black, Bill and Conchita Black, Cleveland; Grandchildren, Chad Black, Gainesville, Chase Black, Cleveland, Scott Black, Griffin Sewell, Gainesville, Sherry Couch, Sonja McGuire, Cleveland, Susie Meaders, South Carolina and Adam Martin, Hayward California; 10 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Special caregivers, Eleanor Woodall, Diane Gardner, Brenda Torabi, Jessie Harkins and Brenda Pilgrim. Several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M Tuesday from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Rev. Dennis Turner and the Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.
