Doyle Lillian Sutton

Doyle Lillian Sutton ,93, of Cleveland died Monday May 12, 2008 at Bell Minor Home. She was born July 17, 1914 to George Sutton and Mattie Miles Sutton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Clarence and Carl Sutton and sisters, Mary Lou Sutton and Lois Sutton Crane, all of Cleveland. Doyle was a member of the first graduating class of Truett-McConnell College and later attended Piedmont College. She was of the Methodist faith and was a life-long member of Cleveland United Methodist Church where she seldom missed a service. She was a children’s Sunday School teacher for many years and also taught in public school. She is survived by a niece and nephew-in-law. Dr. Louise and Jack Holcomb, and a nephew, Ken Crane, all of Gainesville; great nieces, Jackie King and her husband, Dana King, Buford, Betsy Ledford, Gwinnett County; and great nephew, Jeremy Crane, Habersham County, and several great great nieces and nephews. Special friends were Herb and Iris Goolsby, Atlanta. Some of the happiest times of her life were spent when she lived with them and cared for their daughter, Holly during infancy and the pre-kindergarten years. Through the years she always looked forward to their visits. Special appreciation is also expressed to her neighbor, Peg Garey, and to Dorothy Lee Allison, Shirley Crane, Betty Davidson and members of her beloved Church for their love, care and many kindnesses. The funeral will be conducted at the Cleveland United Methodist Church Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Leland Bagwell and the Rev. Richard Huycke. Burial will follow in Cleveland Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Barrett Funeral Home before the service.
