Dr. Edmund Penn White III, of Sautee-Nacoochee, GA passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Habersham Medical Center after a brief illness. He was a retired physician with a passion for life and learning. He was 68 years old. Dr. White was born December 27, 1944 in Independence, MO. He graduated from Arcadia High School, Arcadia, CA, (1962), the University of California, Davis, and served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France and was accepted into the Orange Memorial Hospital, Orlando, FL for his U. S. Externship. During his preparation for his Boards, he worked as an ER pediatrician. Following his U. S. licensing, he established a medical house call service. He also served as company physician for Disney World in Orlando, FL and was fully involved in the medical screening for all employees when Disney, Paris, France was opened in 1992. Following his employment as a General Practice physician in Ashburn, GA, Dr. White retired to the North Georgia mountains. He continued to live a full life in retirement, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Communication Design and Technology from Southern Polytechnic University and established his own computer technology business. He had a life long love of singing and was a member of the Sautee Nacoochee Community Chorale and sang in the Nacoochee Presbyterian Church choir. Dr White is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann Crittenden of Sautee-Nacoochee, GA, a sister Carol White Jones of Pasadena, CA, sons Langdon David White of Boston, MA, Nicolas Edmund White of Chicago, IL, Matthew Satterfield of Clermont, FL and daughter Sarah Haverty White of Gainesville, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren Thomas, Morgan, Ian, and Kira White and Madison Satterfield. Survivors also include cousins, Earl Wayne Trussell and Paula Weiss, a nephew Stephen Penn Jones and his wife Alicia, a niece Stacy Jones Oliva, her husband Yuri, and their children, Rhiannon Jones and Ethan Oliva. Dr. White was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Mildred Haverty White and Edmund Denver White. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, April 29, 2013 at Nacoochee Presbyterian Church. Online condolences: barrettfh.com Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland.
