Mr. Edward Ruston Jackson, age 85 of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Jackson was born in White County on June 12, 1922 to the late Ruston and Bonnie Freeman Jackson. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Leila Dyer and Ola Mae Bowen. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy and attended Cleveland Worship Center. Mr. Jackson was a mechanic and worked for Talon for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife: Elva Jackson, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law: Mary Ann & Larry Johnson, Westminister, SC; grandchildren: Melanie & Joe Black, Cleveland; John Synder, Seattle, WA; Nathan Snyder, Westminister, SC; great-grandchildren: Aidan Black & Julie Ann Black, Cleveland; sister: Onie Brown, Cleveland; brother: Bill Jackson, Cleveland and a number of nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 20, 2008 from the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Rigdon and Rev. Gary Heffner officiating. Interment will follow in Gateway Memory Gardens with military honors by the White County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
