Mrs. Effie Jane Payne Black, age 96 of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Black was born September 12, 1915 in Stephens County to the late James Ira and Mary Murray Payne. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert W. Black Son, Jimmy Black, sisters: Essie Hancock and Georgia Sellers, brothers, Dawson Payne, Johnny Payne and Bill Payne. She was a homemaker and was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church. Survivors include: daughter: Lois Violet Young, Gainesville; daughter and son in law: Mary Alice & Bobby Davis, Cleveland; granddaughter & spouse, Marlene & Kenneth Davis, Cleveland; grandson & spouse: Randy & Ona Young, Gainesville; sisters: Sally Sellers, Toccoa and Francis Franklin, Toccoa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Barrett Chapel with Rev. Dennis Taylor, the Rev. Garvis Kinsey and the Rev. Joel Shadburn officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 Wednesday at the funeral home.
