Mrs. Emily Jarrard Dyer, age 86 of Dahlonega passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Gateway Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Dyer was born in Lumpkin County on June 24, 1923 to the late Thomas Sanford and Ollie Grizzle Jarrard. Mrs. Dyer was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett A. Dyer, a brother, A.W. “Wid” Jarrard and a sister, Velma Morrell. She was retired from Pine Tree Plant and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Survivors include: sons and daughters in law: Garnett Kenneth & Brenda Dyer, Dahlonega; Thomas & Lavon Dyer, Cleveland; grandchildren: Kimberly & Lee Arnold , Dahlonega, Tonya & Brian Warran , Canton, Candice Dyer & Alan Sverdlik, Cleveland; great grand children: Ansley Arnold, Tucker Arnold, Lindsey Warran and Hope Warran; sisters: Jessie McCown, Lawrenceville, Edith Cahill, Dawsonville, Virginia Winkler and Santa Crisson, Dahlonega.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 4, 2009 from the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Abernathy and Rev. J.R. Fields officiating and Rev. Dean Bryant at graveside. Internment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6 to 9 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
