Mr. Eugene Karsner, age 75, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Friday, November 14, 2008 from First Baptist Church of Cleveland. Dr. Robert Massey and Rev. Dennis Turner will officiate. Interment will follow in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Karsner was born in Indianapolis, IN to the late Smith and Iva Robinson Karsner. He was preceded in death by his brother Ernest P. Karsner and mother in law Edna Mae Havard. Mr. Karsner graduated from Brownsburg, Indiana High School in 1951 and he entered the U.S. Marine Corp immediately after High School graduation where he served in the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate from Indiana State University where he was a member of the football team. Mr. Karsner coached High School football and taught science at Dugger, Indiana High School and retired from State Farm Insurance Company after more than 32 years of service in Indiana and Georgia. He was a member of the American Legion, Yonah Masonic Lodge No. 382 F & AM and Beta Sigma Phi International Envoy.
Survivors include his wife Elaine Havard Karsner, Cleveland; children, Kathy and Tim Murphy, Swain Point, MD, Chris and Kum Son Karsner, Southern Pines, NC, Shannon Solomon, Dallas, Courtenay and Jon Davis, Sugar Hill; sister, Elizabeth Burns, Avon, IN; grandchildren, Sonja, Jessica, and Jason Karsner, Caity and Liam Murphy, Piper and Peyton Solomon, Will and Ben Davis.
