Cleveland 03/01/2008 Mr. Everett Lionel Malone, age 88 of Cleveland passed away on Saturday, March 01, 2008 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville following an extended illness. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 11, 1919, he was the son of the late Walter and Ina Valentine Malone. Mr. Malone enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1936 in which he served aboard the U.S.S. Houston, was later assigned to the Panama Canal during WWII, and also served aboard the U.S.S. Izard for the Pacific Island Campaigns. Upon his discharge from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Malone worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier until his retirement in 1974. He had resided in Cleveland for the past 10 ½ years and was a member of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church. Mr. Malone was preceded in death by daughters, Frances Malone and Mary Frances Malone. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frances Beyer Malone, Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Lauren Malone, Baltimore, MD; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Ulrich Schroeder; son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Mary Malone; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Richard Steen, all of Cleveland; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; cousins Evelyn Sargent, Patsy Cave, Doris Funk; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 04, 2008 at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church with Father Vincent Sullivan officiating. Mr. Malone’s wishes were to be cremated following the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that all donations be made to St. Vincent DuPaul at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Cleveland.
