Fred Nelms

Fred Nelms, age 67, of Cleveland, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021. Mr. Nelms was born on June 8, 1953, in Hiawassee, Georgia, to the late William Nelms, Sr. and Evy Mae Benfield. He was a furniture builder and a member of Center Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Junior Nelms; sister, Juanita Welcome. Survivors include his wife, Eunata Nelms, Cleveland; step-son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Jennifer Burrell, Hiawassee; grandchildren, Dylan Burrell and Devyn Burrell; brother, Duel Nelms; sister, Opal Chastain; sister-in-law, Dorothy Nelms; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Dave Fortner and the Rev. Willie Screws will officiate. Interment will follow at Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
