Mrs. Gertrude “Trudy” Palmer Saxon, age 81 of Cleveland passed away on Monday, September 17, 2007 at the Gateway Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on May 16, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Herschel and Sylvia Westmoreland Palmer. Mrs. Saxon was the owner and operator of Trudy’s Coffee Shop in Cleveland for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.W. Saxon, brother, Nick Palmer, and Ray Palmer. Mrs. Saxon was a member of the Mt. Yonah Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Max and Evelyn Tomlin, son, Johnny Saxon, all of Cleveland; sisters and brother-in-laws, Geraldine and Leon Black, Sautee; Mary and Tom Vaughn, Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Janette Palmer, Cleveland; grandchildren, Carly Saxon, Sandy & Kerry Walden, all of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Luke Kerry Walden, Ema Cassandra Walden, both of Cleveland, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the Gateway Memory Park in Cleveland. The Rev. Doug Merck will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday.
