Guy Harry Schneider died on February 8, 2016. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Alice Willson and Fredrick Carl Schneider on September 26, 1931. He graduated from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture in 1955. Following graduation, on June 4, 1955, he married his beloved Shirley Anne Dunn at Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia. They shared a marriage lasting 54 years until her death in 2009. They have three children: Debbie (Jesse) Osterhoudt of Raleigh, NC; Beth (Michael) Paffenback of Kennesaw, GA; Andrew (Jennifer) of Ideal, GA. They also have 8 grandchildren: John Taylor (Kristen), Stephanie Taylor, Jason Paffenback (Katrina), Kristen Brown (Daniel), Jeffrey Paffenback, Lauren Paffenback, Caleb Schneider, Lily Schneider. And 5 great grandchildren: Jacob, Eli, Avery, Landon and Adelynn.
After serving in the United States Air Force, Guy was the owner of Guy Schneider, Architects for over 50 years, designing and overseeing the construction of churches, schools, office buildings, and homes across the Southeast. He was a member and elder of Central Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, GA for nearly 50 years and, after retirement, a member of the Nacoochee Presbyterian Church in Sautee, GA. He had a passion and extraordinary talent for sailing, gardening, wood working, bridge playing, watercolor painting and photography. He and Shirley traveled the world with Friendship Force International to China, Russia, Australia, Ireland, Germany, England, France, Greece, South America, Eastern Europe and Turkey. They believed that cultural understanding promotes peace. They were also active participants of the local arts.
