Mr. Haden Harmon Thomas, age 86, of Dahlonega. Mr. Thomas passed away Monday July 28, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Thomas was born in Hall County the son of the late Johnny W. and Ivie Meers Thomas. He was preceded in death by sister: Elzie Brady; brothers: Cleveland Thomas and Frank Thomas; and son-in-law: Benny Thomas. He served as an Army Air Medic during World War II and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church for the last 60 years, where he served as deacon.
Survivors include wife, Wanda Welch Thomas, Dahlonega; daughters and sons in law, Barbara and Steve Katona, Dahlonega, Jane and Jim Burns, Dahlonega, and Robbie and Tony Osborne, Chatsworth; daughter, Lois Thomas, Dahlonega; daughter, Hazel Thomas and special friend Darcy; sisters, Beady Evans, Cleveland and Betty Owens, Dahlonega; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4 pm Wednesday, July 30, 2008 from Philippi Baptist Church for The Rev. Cotton Harris, Rev. Tony Allison and Rev. Jerry Whitlock will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 3:30 to 4:00 at the church.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 PM on Tuesday and 10 am to 3 pm on Wednesday.
