Harold G. Palmer

Harold G. Palmer, 64, passed away, Sunday, June 26, in the Hospice Unit at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, Georgia. Harold fought a brave six-year battle with colorectal cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Georgia and Harold was the only child of the late H. Ray Palmer and Viola Irvin Palmer Humphrys. Harold graduated White County High School, in 1975, where he was known for his skills on the basketball court. Following graduation, he attended and also played basketball for North Georgia College in Dahlonega where he was graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. Early in his career, he was employed with Deep South Cheese Plant, Gainesville, Georgia and later worked with the R. J. Wrigley Gum Plant, Flowery Branch, Georgia. In 1996, Harold founded Rock Creek Poultry Farm on his family land in Cleveland and ran the thriving business for the following 20 years until retirement. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 27 years, Melodie Chance Palmer; sons, Bryan and Jeremy Palmer, Dahlonega, GA, Stetson Lusk (wife Stephanie) Gunnison Colorado; Daughter-in-Law, Briana Cantrell, Cleveland; Grandchildren, Braxten, Ellerie, and Declan Palmer and Leif Lusk; Stepfather, Neil Humphrys; Step Brothers, Chuck, Morgan, and Harry Humphrys; Step Sisters, Melanie Tilson, and Genevieve Humphrys. In addition, his beloved, Sister-In-Law, Rene Chance Garrett, (husband Randy), Cliffton Virginia; Niece, Stacy, Nephews Joel and Nathan Garrett, and a very special cousin and friend D. Brandon Cobb, Pensacola, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday, June 30, 2022 at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with The Reverend Dennis Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the celebration of life.
