Harold Thomas Branton

Harold Thomas (Tom) Branton entered into eternal rest peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the age of 91. Tom was born on July 23, 1929 in Cartersville, Georgia, to the late Henry J. and Lillie Hagler Branton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Henry Jordan Branton, Walter Lewis Branton and by his oldest son, James Brian Branton. Tom worked very hard all his life. After finishing his tour of duty in the Navy, he was employed as an insulator in Georgia. During the 1950’s, he moved his family to New Orleans, Louisiana where he formed his own insulation business. His company grew into several companies that prospered under his commitment and dedication. He took special pride in being able to provide employment to many families for many years until his retirement. His business continues under the leadership of his son, David Branton. Tom was a member of the Metairie Baptist Church where he served as Deacon Emeritus and chair of many committees. His fascination with the sea led to an active interest in sailing that he pursued for most of his life. He was an avid reader with a special interest in Civil War History. Tom loved Loudsville Methodist Campmeeting. He was a tent holder, active supporter and participant there and loved the Loudsville Methodist Community. Tom is survived by his wife of seventy years, Kathryn Westmoreland Branton; his sister Katie Clariece Branton Gober and brother Robert Franklin Branton; children Laura Branton Hall (husband Cliff Hall), David Thomas Branton (wife Leeann Saia Branton) and Melanie Branton Manzella; seven grandchildren, Noah Thomas Hall (wife Ashlee Young Hall), Adam David Hall, Zachary James Hall, Elizabeth Branton Alario (husband Kevin Alario), Abigail Branton Weidenhaft (husband John Weidenhaft), James Thomas Branton, and Anthony Richard Manzella, III; and four great grandchildren, Miles Xavier Hall, Jasper Bailey Hall, Ava Ree Alario, and Maddox Reid Alario.
