Hazel Caron

April 28, 1943 — September 24, 2023

Hazel Marie Allums Caron, age 80 of Sautee Nacoochee, formerly of Lilburn, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Hazel was born on April 28, 1943, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, to the late Grady Allums and Mary Green Johnson Allums. Hazel graduated from Hoke Smith High School. She married her first husband, William Cook, and began a career as payroll supervisor with several companies during her 20-year career. Hazel and William had one daughter, Leigh (Cook) Gibson. Later in life Hazel met Norm Caron at a dance social and they dated for 14 years, enjoying “life” together. Hazel and Norm married June 23, 2007, and continued enjoying each other for another 16 years. Hazel was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed time with family, cooking, time with her two beautiful granddaughters, day trips with her husband Norm, going to fairs, blue grass music festivals, roadside stands and any adventure. Hazel is survived by her husband, Norman “Norm” Caron; daughter, Leigh (Cook) Gibson and favorite son-in-law, Adam Gibson; granddaughters, Skylar Gibson and Emma Gibson; high school friend and first husband, William Cook; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Sue Abernathy, Pat Archambeault, and Roland and Linda Caron. Hazel also has several cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hazel’s private nurse, Stephanie Davis-Burnett for the tender care given over the last four years, and also to Amedisys Hospice of Toccoa for the wonderful care and services provided by their skilled staff in her last 16 months. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1832 Pleasant Hill Rd. Duluth, GA (Gwinnett County). The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Hazel’s honor to the Dementia Society of America – P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
