Hoyt "Stan" Strickland

Mr. Hoyt “Stan” Strickland age 73 of Dahlonega passed away Monday December 16, 2013 at Friendship Nursing Home. Mr. Strickland was born February 20, 1940 in Hall County, Georgia to the late Hoyt Lee and Lila Jarrard Strickland. Stanley grew up in Atlanta and was a graduate of O’Keefe High School and attended Gordon Military College on a football scholarship. He enjoyed football making All-American Recognition in High School. He loved fishing and hunting and spending time with family. Survivors include his wife Sandra Lowery Strickland, Dahlonega; son and daughter in law, Stephen and Melody Strickland, Cumming; daughter and son in law, Sherri and Grant Scarborough, Kennesaw; 5 step-children; brothers, Paul Strickland, Larry Strickland, both of Douglasville; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, December 19, 2013 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Brandon Hester will officiate. Interment will follow at Welcome Worship Center Church Cemetery in Dahlonega, Ga. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
