Mr. Hubert Lee Boggs age 80 of Cleveland passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Boggs was born in Lynch, KY. on August 23, 1927 to the late Hiram and Sarah Mitchell Boggs. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters. Mr. Boggs was a Coal Miner and member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a Kentucky Colonel , a honor given by the Governor of Ky. and member of Masonic Lodge #880. Mr. Boggs was a member and deacon of New Bridge Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife: Betty Humphries Boggs, Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law: Hubert Jr. (Bubby) and Donna Boggs, Berea, KY; daughter: Patsy Boggs Funk, Cleveland; daughters and son-in-laws: Mary & Jerry Norris, Cleveland and Kathy & Carl Couch, Cleveland; brother, Franklin Boggs, Cumberland, KY; grandchildren: Jennifer Coots, Earl Sams, Amy Shepherd, Becky Roach, Laurie Reeder, Mandy Gibbs and Emilee Boggs; 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 16, 2008 at New Bridge Baptist Church. The Rev. Phillip Robinson, Rev. W.A. Jenkins, Rev. Ralph Smith and
Rev. Chris Alexander will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by White County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
