James Oliver Bryant

James Oliver Bryant, age 82, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Mr. Bryant was born in Columbus, GA to the late Oliver and Zaidee Matheson Bryant. He was employed with the US Air Force Audit Agency for 33 years before retiring in 2000. He was a proud graduate of Columbus High School, Truett McConnell College and Baylor University. Mr. Bryant was a longtime member of Mt. Yonah Baptist Church and a former chairman of the church finance committee. Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Jo Bryant.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Anita Bryant, and Ben and Woomi Bryant; daughter, LeAnna Bryant Anantaraman; grandchildren, Katherine Bryant, Matthew Bryant, Grady Bryant, Avi Anantaraman, and Raj Anantaraman; siblings, Sarah Fortner, Mary Sue Mardis, and Reuben Bryant; sister-in-law, Kathy Mize; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Monday, June 29, 2026, from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Rev. Doug Merck and Dr. John Yarbrough will officiate. A livestream of the service can be viewed at:  https://youtube.com/live/iF7uGMNYWhg?feature=share 

Interment will follow in Mt. Yonah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 P.M. Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the funeral home.
