James Buford Palmer, age 70 of Sautee, passed away Saturday, February 01, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Palmer was born February 7, 1943 in Dalton, GA to the late George E. and Ruby Wofford Palmer. He was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church, worked for Harris Construction and was preceded in death by his wives, Patricia Williams Palmer, Billie Marie Palmer, brothers Dewey Erwin Palmer, Hoyt Conley Palmer, Mack Allen Palmer, sisters, Jeanette Palmer Manis, Carolyn Joyce Wagner. Mr. Palmer loved his wife and his family. He was a Christian and he lived it, God was the center of his life and he loved singing and praising his name.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Palmer, Sautee; step children, Mary Workman, Gastonia, NC; John Lingle, Cleveland; Elizabeth Olinger, Suwanee; sister, Evelyn Wynell Hays, Chattanooga, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and John Hamblin, Leesburg, FL; Mary Lou and Dick Bell; Alpharetta; grandchildren, Joshua Workman, James Workman, Matthew Lingle, Caitlyn Lingle, Timothy Lingle, Caden Olinger, Garrett Olinger; great-grandson, Brayden Workman; special nieces, Tammy Whitmire, Sharon Palmer, Vickie Palmer, Sherry Palmer, Karen Manis; special nephew, Lee Murphree and many other cousins also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Cleveland First Baptist Church. Dr. T. Mike Davis and the Rev. Dennis Turner will officiate. Interment will follow at Yonah View Memorial Gardens. Mr. Palmer will lie in state from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
