James Gerney Chambers

James (Jim) Gerney Chambers James Gerney Chambers born June 27, 1928 (83 years old) died March 30, 2012 of cardiac arrest at his home. Mr. Chambers was born in Forsyth County to his parents Ford and Elizabeth Chambers. He was preceeded in death by his parents, his brother Harold Chambers and his step-daughter Kandi Gailey Shuler. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Bea Browning Chambers; his step-daughters Kismet Fowler (Steve), Angela Welborn (Daren), and Pam Knepp (Mark); grandkids Megan Gailey (Adam), Kyle Gailey, Levi Shuler, Erica Sisk, Dillon Knepp, David Knepp, Cheyenne Welborn and Tyler James Welborn and great grandson, Cooper Jay Gailey; sister, Edna Long and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Betty McEntire (Ron), Thomas Browning (Gail), Charlotte Bonner, and April Browning (Scott). Mr. Chambers served in WWII as a Merchant Marine. He was a proud member of the Cleveland First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on many committees. He also was in many civic clubs – Civitan, Kiwanis, and Lions Clubs. By profession, he was a retired jeweler and retired bailiff of 31 years. Funeral services will be held at Cleveland First Baptist Church, 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 with Dr T. Mike Davis and Rev. Dennis Turner officiating. Visitation will be at Barrett’s Funeral Home on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Interment will be in Gateway Memory Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 250, Cleveland, GA 30528. Online condolences may be made to the family at barrettfh.com.
