Jerry Michael Elkins Sr.

Jerry Michael Elkins Sr., age 73, of Clarkesville passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Mr. Elkins was born in Henry County, GA to the late Richard and Dorothy Elkins. Jerry proudly served in the National Guard during the 1970s. His love for his community led him into public service, where he served as the former Mayor of Locust Grove. Later in life, Jerry continued his dedication to serving others as the City Manager of Helen, Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Gail Elkins; children and their spouses, Jerry Michael Elkins Jr and Nicole Elkins, Julie Elkins Fowler and Greg Fowler, Cindy Tunnell Austin and Derrick Austin, Jody Lynn Walters; siblings and spouses, Stephen Thomas Elkins and Cathy Elkins, John and Judy Elkins, David and Elaine Elkins; step brothers and wives, Mark and Devone Gardner, Paul and Debbie Gardner; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, October 3, 2026, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Joey Seabolt will officiate.
