Jerry Lamar Nix

Mr. Jerry Lamar Nix, age 66 of Cleveland, passed away on March 30, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Nix was born in White County on November 15, 1944. He was preceded in death by his father Harry Glen Nix. He was retired from the Department of Transportation as a civil engineer. He was a member of the Georgia DOT Engineer Association. Mr. Nix was a member of Mossy Creek United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, of 43 years, Barbara Nix, Cleveland; son and fiancé, Jeffrey Nix and Denise Thomas, Cleveland; mother, Mary Ruth Nix, Cleveland; sister and brother in law, Glenda and Kenneth Brooks, Cleveland; brother and sister in law, Dickie and Beth Nix, Cleveland; brother in law and sister in law; Bo and Linda Taylor, Cleveland; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Friday, April 1, 2011 from the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Internment will follow in Mossy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Nanci Hicks and Mrs. Barbara Head will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
