Jessie Mae Thurmond

Jessie Mae Thurmond age 89, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Thurmond was born September 4, 1926 in Cleveland to the late Tommy and Jessie Palmer Edwards. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Yonah Baptist Church. Mrs. Thurmond was preceded in death by her husband Donald Thurmond and several sisters and brother. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Eddie Hatcher, Cleveland; grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Norris, Sautee; Jadie and Lindsay Hatcher, Cleveland; great grandchildren, Brennan Thurmond Norris, Poppi Maeve Hatcher, Charlotte Leigh Hatcher, Stella James Hatcher; sisters, Katie McCollum, Cleveland; Polly Hallock, Gainesville; Vel Hedberg, Phoenix, AZ; brother, Frank Edwards, Cleveland; special niece, Margie Black; special cousin, Geraldine Black; special friend, Peggy Biggers. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, January 28, 2016 at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow at Loudsville United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
