John Henry Winkler

Mr. John Henry Winkler, 88 of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Winkler was born December 29, 1921 in Cleveland to the late Perry and Jane Nix Winkler. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Claude Winkler and sisters, Florence Allison, Eunice Anderson and Myrtle Lunsford. Mr. Winkler was in the U.S. Army having been a veteran of WW II. He was a member of Cleveland Worship Center. Survivors include his wife: Colleen Garrett Winkler, Cleveland; daughter: Gail McCormick, Charlotte, NC; daughter and son in law: JoAnna and Charles M. North, Snellville; granddaughter and husband: Megan M and C.J. Jones, Matthews, NC; grandsons: Sean M. McCormick, Denver, CO, John Martin North and Nicholas G. North, both of Snellville; sisters: Beatrice Westmoreland and Gertrude Postell, both of Cleveland and brother, T.J. Winkler, Damascus, MD. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 27, 2010 in the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Fowler and Rev. Marc Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens in Winder, Georgia.
