John (J.T.) Turner Staton

John Turner (J.T.) Staton, age 72 of Dahlonega, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Staton was born August 28, 1939 in White County to the late Henry Garland and Ruby Kate Hill Staton. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where he served as a former Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Staton was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Howard and brothers, William Staton and Ralph Staton. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sylvia Staton; son Randall Staton; sons and daughters-in-law, Trent and Marty Staton; Keith and Tanya Staton; all of Dahlonega; brother, Gene Staton, Cleveland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and John LeCroy, South Carolina; Martha and Kenneth Holden, Cleveland; grandchildren, K.C. Staton and Kate Staton, both of Dahlonega. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. The Rev. Les Fuller, the Rev. Loyd Martin and the Rev. Dean Bryant will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
