John Wiley (J.W.) Davis

     John Wiley (J.W.) Davis Sr., age 90, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Saturday, May 26, 2018.      Born in Upson County on August 20, 1927, he was the son of the late John and Sinda Davis. J.W. was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe, Herman, and Robert Davis; sister, Nora Barrett, Florence Carter, Lena Hicks, Eunice Edge, and infant Estelle Davis.      Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Polly Autry Davis; daughters and sons in law, Jean and Leon Simmons, and Teresa and Ken Payne; son and fiancé, Junior Davis and Lynn Merritt; grandchildren, Brittany Edge (Mitchell), Kellie Shewbert (Nathan), Jeremy Davis (Mandy), Cody Davis (Virginia), and Sarah Dearing (Barry); great-grandchildren, Conner Edge, Chloe Edge, Bryson Shewbert, Lexi Turner, Shelby Turner, Summer Goss, Lana Davis, and Rylee Davis; brother and sister in law, Jack and Audrey Davis; other in-laws surviving; Herman and Lola Shelnut, Gwendell and Brenda Bulgin, Kenneth Autry and Janet Autry; and a number of nieces and nephews.      Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from the Chapel at Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Dave Fortner and Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt.
