Jon David Henderson

Jon David Henderson, age 62, of Cleveland, GA went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Mr. Henderson was born on January 30, 1953 in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Hugh King Henderson Jr and Elizabeth Grimes Henderson. David joined the Army in 1972 and served until 1975. After that he began a career in law enforcement, serving with Wrightsville P.D., East Dublin P. D., Laurens County Sheriff’s office and Dublin P. D. before finally joining the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources as a Game Warden. He retired in July 2007 at the rank of Administrative Sergeant in the Gainesville Region Office. Mr. Henderson was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Blairsville, singing in the choir and serving as a deacon. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Gainesville and the Vietnam Veterans Association. Survivors in his wife, Jennie Kathy Hogan Henderson, Cleveland; brother, Hugh King (Rusty) Henderson III of Dublin; Cousins, Hope Henderson and Leila Henderson Toms of Americus and Gene Henderson of Columbus, GA. Special friends in Mike Murphy, Moultrie, GA, Monique Murphy Tripp, Moultrie; Laura Francis Murphy Cox, Moultrie; Clay, Holly Amelia Grace and Audrey Jean Greene, Valdosta, GA and Suzanne Tibbetts Murphy of Moultrie, GA. Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The GA DNR Honor Guard will serve as Pallbearers. Union Baptist Deacons and any Law Enforcement Officers will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
