Lawrence (Larry) Allen Simser

Lawrence (Larry) Allen Simser, age 88 of Sautee, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018. Mr. Simser was born in Oswego,NY to the late Jerbin and Harriet Dehm Simser. Larry was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Marines and the United States Coast Guard. He received the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. Larry was a member of Mt Yonah Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elwanda Shook Simsey and his son, Lawrence Allen Simser, Jr.     He is survived by his sisters Maggie Simser, Pleasant Hill, CA., Dorothy Hoyt, Dallas TX., Alice Ziebarth, WI,. brothers, Melvin Simser, Antioch, CA., David Simser, San Marcos, TX., Clyde Simser, NC., close friends, Doug and Maudeen Merck, Sautee.   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Doug Merck and the Rev. Andee Courson will officiate. Burial will be at Hayesville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hayesville, NC.   Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Smithgall Humane Society of White County, P.O.
