Leona Allen, a devoted mother, loving wife, and tenacious spirit, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on May 25, 1930 to Ernest and Ethel Ledford. Leona graduated from Cleveland High School in 1949. She was the cherished wife of Ed Allen, with whom she built a beautiful life and raised four beloved children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ed Allen, children, Beth Allen and Eddie Allen and granddaughter-in-law, Emily Pursley. Survivors include her children, Bruce Allen, Donna Black (Flip) grandchildren, Jeremy Black, Levi Pursley, Brittany Pursley Smith (Storm), Derrica Rohmeyer, Kelanah Allen, and great granddaughter, Blakely Pursley. Together, Ed and Leona created a home filled with love, laughter, and enduring values. Leona was a hard-working woman who poured her heart into everything she did. She lived a life defined by strength, grace, and resilience. With dedication and determination Ed and Leona established the family business in 1955, Allen’s Paint & Body Shop. Leona was fiercely independent, continued to drive and take care of herself along with everyone else embodying the same spirit that guided her throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, love, and family—qualities she lived by and passed on to the generations that follow. Her strength, wisdom, and warm heart will be missed beyond words. Leona’s memory will forever remain a guiding light to all who knew and loved her. Rest in peace, Leona. You were truly one of a kind. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Anderson and the Rev. Jesse Gibson. Interment will follow at Gateway Memory Park The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM Wednesday at the Funeral home prior to the funeral service.
