L.G. Howard

Bishop L.G. Howard age 85 of Cleveland passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Bishop Howard was born in Cleveland the son of the late John M. and Icie B. Turner Howard. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcelle Howard, brothers, James Howard and Edwin Howard. Bishop Howard was Superintendent of the North Georgia Conference of the Congregational Holiness Church for 18 years. He was Bishop for 2 years Minister for 55 years serving numerous Churches and member of Cleveland Worship Center. Bishop Howard was a Barber by trade and a Veteran of World War 11 serving in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Howard, Cleveland; sons and daughters in law, Adrian and Karen Howard, Cleveland, Lowell and Sherrie Howard, Abilene, KS; daughters and sons in law, Phyllis and Stanley Weldon, Cleveland, Melissa Howard and Chris Jones, Gainesville; sons and daughters in law, Mark and Tammy Turner, Alto, Felton and Vivian Turner, Alto; son, Jeffery Turner, Alto; sisters, Juanita Crumley, Jean Lindsay, both of Cleveland; 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday February 15, 2012 at the Union Grove Tabernacle. The Rev. Clarence Reynolds, the Bishop Chet Smith, the Rev. Jr. Sosebee and the Rev. Raymond Duncan will officiate. Interment will be in Gateway Memory Park with military honors by the White County Honor Guard. The body will lie in state 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tabernacle. Ministers will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
