Mrs. Lois Elizabeth Sims, age 79 of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, July 08, 2007 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Cook County, Illinois on November 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Walter Joseph and Victoria Agitha Jablonski Barbeau. Mrs. Sims had lived in Cleveland for the past several years, was a homemaker, and a member of the Shoal Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Sims.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Vince and Robin Turek, Athens; sister, Caroline Carlson, Streamwood, Illinois; brothers, Eugene Barbeau, Evergreen Park, Illinois; Edward Barbeau, Glen Ellin, Illinois; William Barbeau, Coco, FL; grandsons, Joseph Carver, Flowery Branch; Bradley Carver, Gainesville; Christopher Thompson, Choctaw, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter, Freyia Thompson, Choctaw, Oklahoma; step-sons, Teddie Sims, Chicago, Illinois; John D. Sims, Jr., Carson City, Nevada; step-daughter, Anita Konow, Fresno, California; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Anderson and the Rev. James Dumas officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Vernon officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday.
