Mrs. Lula Mae Thomas age 90 of Cleveland passed away Saturday January 27, 2007 at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Lumpkin County, Georgia on February 14, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Sarah Wood. Mrs. Thomas lived most of her life in White County and was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph (Jody) Thomas, daughter, Mary Ruth Thomas, an infant son, and brother, Joe E. Wood.
She was survived by her daughters, Dorothy Jean Stelmachers, Edith Hunt, Sara Dockery, Martha Grindle, Melanie Young, Shelia Simmons, all of Cleveland; sons, James Thomas, Homer Thomas, Buddy Thomas, Sam Thomas, Mike Thomas, all of Cleveland; 49 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday January 30, 2007 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Dave Fortner, the Rev. Terry Head and the Rev. Phillip Robinson will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-9 P.M. Sunday and 4-9 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
