Margaret Dorsey Smith

Margaret Dorsey Smith, age 95, of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Mrs. Smith was born on February 10, 1929, in White, Georgia (Bartow County), to the late Bill and Viola Shinall Taylor. She retired from cattle and poultry farming and was a member of Zion Interdenominational Church. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her daughters, Cindy Knight, Patricia Ann Carlyle Pardue, and Pam Irvin; husbands, Harmon Dorsey and Henry F. Smith; brothers, Albert Taylor, Sr. and Doyle Taylor; sister, Rebecca Winkler. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Truitt Helton, Sherrill and Doug Dockery, and Lynn and Tony Hogan; son-in-laws, Marty Knight and Danny Irvin; sister-in-laws, Martha Jean Taylor and Mary Lou Jackson; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Margaret’s caregiver, Teresa Waddall and to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Heffner and the Rev. Doug Merck will officiate. Interment will follow in Zion Interdenominational Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
