Marviene Ann Brand

November 25, 1943 — March 28, 2019

Mrs. Marviene Ann Miles Brand, age 75 of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019, following a lengthy battle with Dementia.   Marviene was born in White County on November 25, 1943, to the late Marvin Miles and Ruth White Miles. Upon graduating High School, Marviene followed the steps of her mother Ruth and became a school teacher. With degrees from North Georgia College, Berry College and the University of Georgia, Marviene began a teaching career that would span some 30 years in both Tennessee and Georgia.   In addition to her teaching career, Marviene was very active in the United Methodist Church, where she served on numerous local and district committees over the years. She also served with the American Legion Ladies Auxilliary, AARP Driving Instructor, as well as White County Retired Educators.   Marviene was a longtime and faithful member of Cleveland United Methodist Church, where she and her late husband Leonard attended following their return to Georgia. She will be remembered by those who knew her as a woman of faith who valued hard work and dedication from those whom she taught as well as a woman of compassion for those in need. Marviene is survived by a number of cousins, as well as an untold number of friends she made along the way both personally and professionally.  Hearing from these friends, whether by phone or as like she like to term “A written sentiment,” meant the world to her.   Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm Monday, April 1, 2019, in the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Keen and Rev. Emory Brackman officiating. Interment will follow in Tesnatee Baptist Church Cemetery.   Visitation for Marviene will begin at 12 Noon on Monday, prior to the service.   Flowers will be acknowledged, however it was Marviene’s personal wish that memorial donations be made to her church, Cleveland United Methodist, P.O. Box 1226, Cleveland, Georgia 30528.   To share a memory or leave a condolence, visit barrettfh.com.   Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland.
