Mary Avaleen Hood

Mary Aveleen Hood, age 89 of Cleveland, passed away from this life to her eternal home on Thursday, November 3, 2011 surrounded by her family and her loving caretaker, Kathy Egerton. Mrs. Hood was born February 5, 1922 in Cleveland to the late Oscar and Bertie Hunt Adams. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. She was active in the Church and community. Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her husband William Edward Hood and granddaughter Fay Staton. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Doris Hood, Cleveland; daughter, Eunice Hood, McDonough; grandchildren and spouses, Karen and Scott Mote, Demorest; Edrick and Michelle Hood, Andersonville; Amanda and Dario Hanic, Cleveland; Vel and Curt DeGroff, McDonough; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Carolyn Adams, McDonough; Herman and Evelyn Adams, Cleveland; Roy and Elaine Adams, Demorest; Ernest and Barbara Adams, Cleveland; brother, Ray Adams, Dahlonega; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruenell and Bobby Helton, Cleveland; Sue and Charles Simmons, Demorest; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, November 6, 2011 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Irvin and the Rev. Dave Fortner will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt.
