Mary Ruth Gunter Fortenberry

Mary Ruth Gunter Fortenberry, age 68 of Cleveland, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023. Mrs. Fortenberry was born in White County to the late Ray and Grovie Frady Gunter. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Fortenberry; brothers, Royce Gunter, Jackie Gunter; sisters, Brenda Abernathy and Barbara Savage. Mary worked as a correction officer at Lee Arrendale State Prison for 23 years. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and David Siegel, Cleveland; son, Sean Fortenberry, Cleveland; sisters, Sandra Ambrose, Easley, SC; Sue Hall, Elberton; brothers, Earl Gunter, Jerry Gunter, both of Cleveland; grandchildren, Murphy Siegel, Dalton Siegel; and great granddaughter, Violet Siegel.
