Matthew Regan Osborne

Matthew Regan Osborne, age 47 of Cornelia, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Matthew was born in Wilmington, Del. and grew up in Seminole, Fla. He was a professional journalist for 25 years, starting in 1999 as a sportswriter at the Lake City (Fla.) Reporter after graduating from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. From there, he served his communities as editor/publisher of The Graham Star in Robbinsville, N.C.; sports editor and news editor of the Richmond County Daily Journal in Rockingham, N.C.; sports editor and editor of The Trentonian in Trenton, N.J.; and editor of the Cherokee Scout and Andrews Journal from 2014-19. In November of 2019, Matthew became editor of The Northeast Georgian in Cornelia. He is preceded in death by his father, Barry Osborne. Survivors include his wife, Samantha Sinclair; sons, Hunter, Callum and Oliver; mother, Sue Osborne; sister and brother-in-law, Mackenzie Osborne and Pete Spano. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2024 at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2024 at the funeral home, prior to the service.
