Maude Alice York Cleveland

Mrs. Maude Alice York Cleveland, age 89 of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 following an extended illness. Born in Rabun County, Georgia on August 12, 1918, Mrs. Cleveland was the daughter of the late Neely and Georgia Miranda Motes York. She was a life-long resident of White County, a homemaker, and a member of Blue Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Cleveland was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Cleveland, daughters, Judy Cleveland King, and Barbara Ann Cleveland Garrett. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-laws, Louise and Leon Eller, Batesville; Eulene and Boyd Cantrell, Dahlonega; daughter, Gertrude Edge, Cleveland; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Blue Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Danny O’Kelly, the Rev. Milton Harris, and the Rev. Lance Fuller will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
